Accounting Manager

Position Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Positions Supervised: Staff Accountants
Responsible for Credit Union accounting functions, including general ledger, regulatory reporting, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset, and cost accounting. Prepares periodic reports, reviews and reconciles data. Prepares entries and adjustments to Credit Union records, files, and statements. Assists with financial and variance analysis and budget preparation. Provides Credit Union managers with information necessary for decision making. Essential Functions and Basic Duties
- Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of all accounting department functions.
- Provides backup to all areas within the Accounting Department to maximize efficiency and productivity, ensuring that accounting functions and duties are accurately and promptly completed.
- Is the lead person to ensure that all reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
- Responsible for the month end and year end closing process, preparing journal entries and balances work in the accounting area in coordination with the CFO.
- Responsible for updating the fixed assts in an accurate and timely manner
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the ALM Committee and Board in coordination with the CFO.
- Updates and uploads the files for CECL to determine the Credit Union’s Allowance for Loan Loss.
- Maintains and updates the budgeting software on a monthly basis. Provides reports and plays an active role in the annual budgeting process.
- Prepares quarterly NCUA call report ensuring accuracy, timely submission and conformity with regulatory guidance in cooperation with the CFO.
- Provides documentation to third party for the annual mortgage servicing rights review.
- Ensures that the annual Abandoned Property is processed according to State Laws.
- Provides support to internal and external auditors for various comprehensive audits.
- Provides assistance in the production of the annual audited financial statements and support for regulatory examinations.
- Reviews financial information needed to ensure an accurate statement of the Credit Union’s financial position to various regulatory agencies.
- Researches and resolves accounting errors and discrepancies.
- Monitors costs and expenses.
- Prepares regular reports and statements for management.
- Maintain working knowledge of accounting software programs.
- Ensures the accounting functions are completed in accordance with established Credit Union procedures and applicable regulations.
- Reconciles FICS data and provides support to the Mortgage Department on accounting related procedures.
- Any and all duties as required by management.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective business relations with vendors, governmental agencies, and outside business and accounting professionals.
- Responds to questions and problems politely and promptly.
- Ensures that the Credit Union’s professional reputation is maintained at all times.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
- Office setting at a workstation, desk, sitting, use of telephone, computer, devices, and office equipment.

- While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to talk or hear/listen. The position requires an individual to be able to sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
