We are seeking an experienced banking Teller (Full-Time 40 hours, per week) for our Main Office in Lynn.

St. Jean’s Credit Union is Massachusetts’ First Credit Union, organized in 1910. St. Jean’s is also America’s Oldest State Chartered Credit Union and the second oldest in the nation.

Schedule: Monday to Wednesday, 8:00am-5:00pm, Thursday & Friday 8:00am-6:00pm and Saturday 8:00am-1:30pm. Saturday coverage and a weekday off, the schedule is completed in advance.

Summary/Objective

Contribute to St. Jean’s Credit Union by identifying members’ needs, providing service excellence and helping members achieve their financial goals.

Essential Functions

  • Process all teller transactions accurately such as deposits, withdrawals, loan payments and check cashing, as well as assist with end of day balancing.
  • Balance each day’s transactions and verify cash totals with high degree of accuracy. Perform specific tasks and assist other tellers with a variety of duties as required.
  • Achieve individual referral goals by identifying the financial needs of new and existing members by building strong business relationships and educate and cross sell appropriate products and services.
  • Knowledge of products and services offerings and complete member requests.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures, which include security compliance and following guidelines intended to limit risk exposure to fraud and losses.
  • Continuously identify and submit efficiency and process improvement ideas

What You’ll Need/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferably, 1-2years cash handling experience in Banking with customer service experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years demonstrated customer experience, ability to recommend and refer products and services to members. Retail experience may be considered.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Technical skills (Windows, Microsoft Office)
  • Bilingual, Spanish/English, a plus

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work branch hours, which can include Saturday from 8-1pm and evenings up to 5:30pm.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong listening and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with teammates, business partners and members through collaboration. Commitment to build relationships through in-person member interactions
  • Ability to effectively ask open ended and fact finding questions and identify needs to enhance the member relationship. Discuss and educate St. Jean’s products and services, to help determine the members needs.
  • You will perform a wide range of transactional duties to serve the membership by receiving or paying out functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, payments, cashier’s checks, money orders, travelers checks and cash advances.
  • Ability to problem solve and provide solutions to member issues
  • Comply with Financial policies and procedures, federal, state local laws and regulations
  • Individual should be a self-starter and be technically literate
  • Comfortable with using digital technology to support the delivery of business goals
  • Consistently contribute to retail goals and continually build relationships.
  • Ability to handle and make independent decisions regarding complex member transactions, and to seek help from the head teller or the manager on duty for elevated issues.
  • Participate and apply all required training. Complete all required online and classroom assignments. Actively seek out ways to better increase my knowledge of credit union products and services to better contribute to my department and the credit union.
  • Ability to cross train in backing up other Tellers and Head Teller and fill-in coverage, as needed.
  • Energetic, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask effectively.
